Nick Dauphinais
Banjo, Guitar, & Mandolin Faculty

Beginning at a young age, Nicholas Dauphinais began his musical journey both in the bluegrass, and classical world. First picking up the mandolin, and then the guitar, he joined his father’s bluegrass band by the age of seven where they performed all over New England. Eventually, Nick would go on to study classical and jazz trombone, studying with greats such as Max Culpepper, Nic Orovich, Ron Barron, and many others.

 

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at the University of New Hampshire. After studying classically, he refocused on his bluegrass studies and moved to Asheville, NC where he has performed and recorded with the Larry Stephenson Band, Grammy award-winning Jim Lauderdale, Grammy award-winning Bobby Hicks, Roland White, the Mountain Faith Band, the Dauphinais Brothers, and many local bands as well. He has been fortunate to have been a part of many bluegrass and Americana chart-making songs, several of which have made it to the number one spot.

To date, he has performed thousands of times, including at venues such as the Grand Ole Opry, the Station Inn, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Atlanta Falcons games, Super Bowl LI in Houston, Atlanta Braves games, Atlanta United Soccer, Merlefest, several TV and radio performances throughout the country and Canada, He has also performed outside of the genre with Deltron 3030, and regularly records background music for songwriting demos, YouTube content creators, and video game composers.

Nick is excited to share all he has been fortunate to learn with his guitar, mandolin, and banjo students.
