Karen Sorrells – Piano Teacher

Karen Sorrells is Associate Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Asheville, where she offers leadership to all ages in music ministry. Some of her responsibilities include coordinating children’s choirs, directing youth and adult handbell choirs and serving as pianist during worship.

Karen has over thirty years of teaching experience. She has taught at the collegiate level and is a frequent choral clinician and conference leader at both state and national events. She is a children’s choir curriculum writer for Growing in Grace. For several years, Karen has taught at the Fine Arts Summer Academy with the Annie Moses Band in Nashville, Tennessee.

Karen received a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Piano) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Masters in Church Music from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Post-graduate studies include a Kodály Certification from the University of North Texas in Denton.

In addition to piano tutoring and teaching piano lessons, Karen is also Director of the Academy for the Arts.
